Robin Roberts and the Library of Congress honors Gloria Gaynor

(May 2017)

Location: Washington, DC

Great shot overlooking a great artist in a great place – the Libray of Congress in Washington, DC!  “Trese, everything and everyone is your favorite!”.  My best friend Dr. Beverly E. Johnson is right!  I kinda find the good in most things.  But seriously, Washington, DC is one of my favorite cities.  Now it’s not as high on the list as New York City, but high nonetheless.  What’s not to love with great monuments – great history – and the greatest library in the WORLD!!

I especially love the Library of Congress for honoring my friend and boss Gloria Gaynor by adding her Iconic song “I Will Survive” in the National Recording Registry.  She was interviewed by one of her biggest fans, Robin Roberts, just before she headlined activities that officially honored achievement and everything disco!

“I Will Survive”  is now among the list of many other great works like Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” the BeeGees “Saturday Night Fever” , the Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight”, and the classic Prince album “Purple Rain”.  I was honored to support during this massive achievement!

What a treat to officially meet Robin Roberts.  It’s been 20 years ago since she covered my college basketball games at  the University of Georgia Bulldogs #GODawgs.  Meeting her was truly a highlight of 2017!

Congratulations Gloria! You are the ultimate survivor and I am happy to know you and have learned much on this journey with you.
